Photo Hunt: Yellow

I couldn't think of anything yellow -- at first.
Yellow. Is it mellow or is it bright? Sunshine? Flowers?

What about the negatives: yellow jaundice, yellow fever and yellow - or sensational - journalism?

Did you know that the practice of having yellow taxicabs started with John Hertz in Chicago? He began using yellow cars after research showed that yellow is the most recognizable color. That's why many products have at least some yellow. They show up better on grocery shelves, roadsides, etc. Yellow is a marketing tool!

A yellow ducky! Should a rubber duck be any color other than yellow?

Many school children see yellow every day as they get on and off of school buses.

The yellow jessamine is South Carolina's state flower.

Perhaps you've tied a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree. (It's there in the second photo, but harder to see.)

Yellow gives us direction. It means caution, warning, proceed with care. It signifies railroad crossings, dangerous curves, play areas and more.

What about yellow lights? Some call them caution lights. But some say they mean, "Move out of the way. I'm coming through." Lots of people drive like that, don't they?

Yellow marks areas where we might park -- or where we might not.

It marks the lanes at banks and other drive-thru locations.

Yellow makes things like fire hydrants easy to see.

Who knows where the yellow dividing lanes might end?

How about a yellow vehicle? Pale yellow or here-I-am yellow.

What about a yellow house? Sometimes street lights have a yellow glow.

My favorite scented lotion just happens to be yellow. It's called "Forever Amber" by Victoria's Secret.

Sometimes even white wine looks yellow!

Yellow abounds, especially in the spring. I need a whole week to post all of the yellow I found!

That is definitely the most comprehensive coverage of yellow I've seen!

It's true though that, as you look around, you spot all sorts of yellows.

Great yellow photos collection! The yellow ribbon on the oak reminds me of that catchy song - "tie a yellow ribbon in the old oak tree.." I think i love that smell of forever amber too!

Happy week-end!

Woah, lots of yellow! Re the rubber ducky: have seen them in colors other than yellow and also spotted and otherwise patterned. But yeah, it's weird when you do because the classic one is indeed yellow. :)

I'm intrigued by one of the caution signs: is it warning about not driving a trailer over the train tracks? The rubber ducky was an excellent surprise too!

Here's my first participation in the Photo Hunt!!

cheers,

Oh, gosh, where do I begin? As in "Do, Re, Mi," perhaps we'll start at the very beginning, a very good place to start!

Karen and jdeq: Yes, I like the rubber ducky also.

Alleni: I don't know that the coverage was complete, because I had other pictures that I didn't post. It's at least a good cross section.

Jams: Thanks. I was amazed at the availability.

Liz: You're right. There was yellow everywhere I went!

Skywind: Definitely spring!

Lisa C.: I really didn't do much thinking; all of the stuff was just there!

Gypsy at heart: I didn't notice being busy; I just noticed having fun.

Sandi@the WhistleStop Cafe: I like your play on words with EXtensive.

Arlene: Yep, that's the song I thought about.

YTSL: I have the rubber ducks in other colors also, but a chartreuse rubber ducky just isn't right!

lynne: I believe you're correct about the caution sign. I think it's more for dump trucks going over RR tracks, though.

Shinade: Thanks, Jackie. Coming from you, that's a real compliment.

Brita: Thanks for stopping by.

Anonymous/rdl: Many of us seem to like those ducks, don't we?

srp: I agree. I never imagined there was so much yellow all around me.

dowhatyoulove: Several participants in Photo Hunt were amazed at the wealth of yellow.

Mrs. Mecomber: That pale yellow car is a beauty. I agree with you. Unusual color for a car.

UpcountrysmilesCarver, FickleMinded, Annie and candi: Thanks for coming by and for your nice comments.

storyteller and Violet: Thanks to both of you. I'm not familiar with Mellow Yellow Monday. Perhaps I'll check it out if I can find it.

PhotoCache: Thanks for not complaining. :)

PowersTwinB: There's nothing wrong with 65, no matter where you are! Thanks for stopping by.

nanny: I'm so glad you're going to play trivia on this site with us. There's always room for one more.

ancient one: Today my refrigerator has brown mustard instead of yellow! Wouldn't you know it?

Wow - You're right - yellow is everywhere in our lives. My son has a Here I Am yellow vehicle.

If you have time stop by and see my photo hunt.
