WW: Flowertown

Our town, Summerville, just held its annual Flowertown Festival.  Here are just a few reasons Summerville is known as Flowertown.  Believe me, I could fill many blogs with the beauty of this place.

Come back tomorrow for "Thirk Thursday."  Yes, that word is "thirk."  "Thirk" is short for "things that irk me." If you're a blogger, join in; Mr. Linky will be here each Thursday for you to link your post about one thing that irks you.

A Little Bit of Forgiveness Might Be in Order

Yes, I know what the Bible says in Psalm 24: “This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

But some days are just harder than others for rejoicing.

Like this past Wednesday. I could tell it was going to be one of those days.

It poured rain from the time I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and worsened during the day. Local forecasts had ranged from isolated tornados to damaging winds and rains to flash floods and strong thunderstorms. As the morning rush hour started and continued, traffic reports showed loads of wrecks, flooded streets and traffic jams throughout the whole area.

And I sat inside listening to the hard rain, I suddenly remembered: my car has a leak in it. Not one through which things leak OUT. Oh, no; this is one through which the rain leaks IN.

Do I have a garage? Yes, but it’s so full of junk (and a few good things) that there is no room for a car! My garage just as well be called a “storage facility.” It’s even difficult for a human to walk inside.

So, since the garage is used for storage, the car with the leak in it sat in the driveway – likely with a wet interior. I knew I’d have to mosey on out soon to check the water level.

Thank goodness for umbrellas, I thought; I have three of them, maybe even four.

And then as I looked around, I realized that, unfortunately, all three (or four) umbrellas were out in that car with the leak. Along with my raincoat.

I hope the Lord forgives me. I was not rejoicing on Wednesday!

WW: Scenes from Litchfield

Just a few shots from Litchfield Beach, South Carolina.

Marsh/Waterway

There are many large oaks at Litchfield and along much of coastal South Carolina, including this one, known as the Broken Oak.

According to the marker, the Broken Oak has been like that for centuries.

PH: Twisted!

This week's Photo Hunt challenge was to capture something "twisted."  I am always in awe of the fascinating twists and turns in nature, especially those of trees - the trunks, branches & limbs.

Oh, yes, I'm also fascinated by twisted minds, but there were no pictures available!

PH: ORANGE - in Sports, Recreation, Nature and Even Politics???

What fun I had with this week's Photo Hunt theme.  It's orange.  What in the world would I find that was orange?

As it turns out, there's a whole lot of orange around us.  And I even came across a picture that's over 25 years old that has orange in it.

Sometimes there's orange in beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Do you see the orange halo around this Summerville street lamp?
I just happened to see an orange bike in a local parking lot.
Heavy machinery might be orange, like these two pieces of equipment at a local rental place.
The name of my blog might be "EX Marks the Spot" but, in these next three pictures, orange marks the spot - or spots - for work to be done.  Orange paint, orange flags, orange signs.
Okay, here's the really old photo - over 25 years old.  Tree, my son (now an attorney in DC who will kill me if he sees this photo) is wearing an orange life jacket.  Behind him are nephews Ross and Rodney (partially hidden) and daughter Tiffany.  Yep, they'll ALL kill me!
Yes, I'm being grandma again.  Orange gave me the opportunity to share another picture of grandson Harrison.
Quite a few sports teams have orange as one of their colors.
In South Carolina, orange means the Clemson Tigers.  Their blood runs orange.
And speaking of South Carolina, here's a picture from The State newspaper of Mark Sanford, our "Luv Guv."  If you're not from South Carolina, "orange" you glad he's not your governor?
