Happy Mother's Day

A few weeks ago, Inez Tenenbaum and I were honored by the Southeastern Institute on Women in Politics.

What an honor this was!

But guess who got the most attention at the awards dinner?

Mom.

Yes, my mom. Almost 85 and still the center of attention just about anywhere she goes.

And she attracts it. And deserves it.

In 1987 she was SC’s Mother of the Year, a well-deserved honor. For most of her adult life, she was a hard-working career woman of exceptional abilities; wife of a lawyer/politician; mother of five children who now range in age from early 40s to early 60s; and active volunteer in church and community.

She embarked on a new career or hobby at the age of 80, becoming a “rapping grandma.” She has been known to perform rap numbers at various functions, and she always brings down the house with her performances.

Mom likes to play Scrabble and cards; she enjoys entertaining; and she loves to have family and friends around. She tells great stories and can entertain a crowd forever.

She has made speeches all across the United States and in places like Ireland and Fiji. Whether at home or far away, she has been an inspiration to many.
If ever there has been someone who fits the adage of wanting to wear out rather than rust out, it’s Mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to one of the best moms ever!

You must have a great mother, I was so impressed with the post by your brother, I would love to repost it if you do not object. He is one kick butt guy.

I didn't know all of this about your mother. I'm not surprised. You all seem so exceptional in your achievements. Good for you.

Have a terrific day and Mother's Day. :)
