Photo Hunt: Triangles

Yep, this week's Photo Hunt topic is triangles. I had no idea where I might find triangles to post, but, lo and behold, they are all around!

Lots of companies use red triangles in their respective logos. Here are just a few, including one of the oldest registered trademarks in the world.

According to Wikipedia, "The Red Triangle was the first trademark to be registered under the Trade Mark Registration Act 1875, as trade mark number 1. The 1875 Act came into effect on 1 January 1876 and that New Year's Eve, a Bass employee waited overnight outside the registrar's office, in order to be the first in the queue to register a trademark the next morning. In fact, Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton Limited received the first two registrations, the first being the Bass Red Triangle for their pale ale, and the second the Bass Red Diamond for their strong ale."

Triangles are used in building structures -- homes, restaurants, fences, etc.

There's even a triangle in this table in the store's display window.

I found some triangles while driving around and, yes, some are fuzzy because I took them while driving! Sh-h-h-h! Don't tell!

Do you see anything triangular here? How about part of the crane on the right side of the photo? Part of the bridge looks triangular but it isn't. Look at the second picture and you'll see why.

There's no point at the top, for one thing, so this lacks the proper angle!

Speaking of driving, I found triangles in my car. Can you wade through the dust to see the triangles?

How about these on neighbors' cars? Are those triangles on the tires?

There are even triangles on my house key and on the blood pressure monitor!
Triangular flags blowing in the wind.

What kind of triangle is this one?
No idea? Well, those are Bermuda shorts, making that a Bermuda triangle! :)

From Wikipedia, here's a bit of info about the real Bermuda triangle:
"The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a region of the northwestern Atlantic Ocean in which a number of aircraft and surface vessels are alleged to have disappeared in mysterious circumstances which fall beyond the boundaries of human error, pirates, equipment failure, or natural disasters. Popular culture has attributed some of these disappearances to the paranormal, a suspension of the laws of physics, or activity by extraterrestrial beings.
A substantial body of documentation exists showing numerous incidents to have been inaccurately reported or embellished by later authors, and numerous official agencies have gone on record as stating that the number and nature of disappearances is similar to any other area of ocean; however, proponents of paranormal phenomena claim that many incidents remain unexplained despite considerable investigation

Looks like there are triangles everywhere. We just have to open our eyes to see them.

Okay - you win! I haven't been all over but out of those I have seen, this takes the cake.
Structurally, a triangle is very strong and for millenia has been of symbolic significance.

I'm so amazed at how many triangles are around us. You did a great job at capturing many that we just take for granted and pass by - or at least I do. Nice post for this week's theme.

GREAT photos, as usual. It was neat seeing "everyday" triangles everywhere. And the Bermuda T info was great. I remember being amazed at it as a kid... but realizing that it is all superstition!

I did PH, too. I hope you have a chance to see mine.

I'm not allowed to have anything triangular (because of the sharp points). So this post was really nice.

The Bermuda Triangle was expanded back in the '70s so it really isn't a triangle anymore. But hey, we're allowed artistic license here because... well because it's art (dammit). And the Bermuda shorts line was just too good anyway.

But most fascinating of all was the Bass Trademark story. I wonder if that employee got a bonus for giving up his New Year's Eve and waiting all night in the freezing cold so the company could have the distinction of having Trademark #1. Talk about taking one for the team! I'd love to know the whole story behind that one.
