Photo Hunt: Nautical

The theme for this week's photo hunt is "nautical" - Of, relating to, or characteristic of ships, shipping, sailors, or navigation on a body of water.

Actually, some of last week's pictures of bridges fit in with the nautical theme as well.

When participating in nautical activities, always wear life-jackets -- even if you're not happy about it! This photo was taken over 25 years ago on our houseboat.

This is the framed print on the wall in the den. It's the poster for "Friends of the Coast" week. Not sure how navigable this waterway is, though.

Finally, some posters from World War II that fit with the nautical theme.

Happy Valentine's Day & Happy Presidents' Day!

I wasn't fond of our life preserver drill on the cruise...I don't like to feel confined in any way...lol! But, thankfully it was short and sweet!

H♥ppy Valentines Day to YOU!♥

You have/had a houseboat? I went on one on Lake Powell for the first time last summer and loved it.

To Alice Audrey: Yes, we had a houseboat. That's when I also had a husband. :)

Nifty collection of nautical posters! I've spent several summers with my extended family on houseboats on Lake Powell and Lake Shasta and have wonderful memories of those trips.

I happen to LOVE the painting! All of those old posters. . . . at least I'm not old enough to have actually seen the originals and isn't it odd that there were never any posters invoking a united America during the Viet Nam war? Every boyfriend I had, went to viet nam. Maybe it was me. . . just sayin'.

The posters are quite remarkable. My mom was one of the "Rosie, the Riveter." Your take on "nautical" was great, too!
~~~Blessings~~~
I love the picture of the kids in life jackets. The look like the best thing in the world is eating lunch in a bathing suit and life jacket. :0)
