That is a Yucca plant, very popular in the southwest. The spikey thing will/should bloom with flowers and then you need to cut it off, carefully, without poking yourself!
Yeah, I think it might be a type of yucca. We have those around here too, and it's amazing how fast they shoot up! Interesting that yours decided to sprout at a right angle, though.

wow! I haven't a clue! How interesting that the "bloom" elbows out from the plant!
Is it bamboo growing out of that plant? Bamboo grows that fast and looks sort of like that.
I've not a clue. Overnight? Yikes.
Have a terrific day. :)

No idea, but it very interesting looking.
yep, looks like a yucca to me, too.
Yup, yucca! Although it does seem a bit confused!
It looks like a yucca cactus to me too--except the blooms usually grow straight up--so it's kind of unique. Here’s my WW hope you can stop by!
Wow, wow, wow! That stuff is neat. Makes me think of corn.
I've never seen one like this before, this is pretty neat. Thanks for sharing.
Apparently its a Yucca...but if they grow in the Southwest, how in the world did it make to the humid climate of coastal SC?
Yucca Cactus. I will have to take everyone's ideas as fact. I have no idea.
Thanks for visiting Grampys place.
Interesting! Looks like something from little shop of horrors.Did you figure out what it is?
Thanks for the visit and comment over at my place :)
I agree with Jack - be careful lest that Yucca end up being Audrey II.
it is indeed a yucca ... which grows in a myriad of places ... oddly enough.
why it has decided to take a turn to the RIGHT...and point to HEAVEN... is anyone's guess.
:)
LOL
Yep I agree with the others. Yucca, it is. It should get nice yellow or white flowers on the shoot from the center.
Thanks for stopping by.
